Set a Standard - Fly a Standard - Expect a Standard

The Flag Standard of The Principality of Lichtenberg
The Flag is a Black Cross on White Field (in honour of our Teutonic Knights) with Crown on Purple Mantle over Gold Mediaeval Battlefield Cross, Shield and Mounted Knight symbolic of Charlemagne in life and his statue in Paris.
In days of old and today, Kings and Queens had a flag known as a Standard and these flags meant literally what the name implied, The Kingdom expected certain standards from both Monarch and Subjects.
It only flew on the staff of the specific Castle or Residence, in which the ruling Monarch was present at the time. National flags never flew from the staff of a Royal residence. This tradition stems from the days of horseback communication and eliminated lost time, when the King or Queen was required urgently. Riders would halt momentarily when the palace came into sight and observe if anything was on the flagtaff, which in turn told them if the Monarch was there.
If other flags had been allowed to fly, precious time would have been lost through horsemen needing to ride closer in order to identify a flag, instead of moving on quickly to other residences. Tradition was overlooked when people complained that Buckingham Palace failed to honour the late Princess Diana after her untimely death. However, given a Monarch never dies, (the new ascends) when a Monarch passes, the Flag is never lowered to half mast. This was the case with Princess Diana, in reality, a special resolution had to be passed to enable it.
The Lichtenberg Flag is a symbol of this tradition, flown in fervent hope it will be perceived as setting a Standard for Hospital, Humanitarian, Philanthropic and Charitable endeavour. We entrust those who fly this flag to do so in a spirit of humanity, without favour to Race Colour or Creed, so that it may come to represent HOPE for all Peoples Shining like a Beacon in a Hurting World.
For a millennia, the world’s surviving orders of chivalry have tried to reach out to a hurting world and in this tradition of valour and honour, we invite new people to come, see and understand these ideals and those set forth in the Principalities Philosophy Statement and become one with us.
The Lichtenberg Foundation Philosophy
WE WILL TAKE THE CALCULATED RISK, BUT NEVER SHALL WE TRADE OUR illuminating heritage from charlemagne, his humanity, his INTEGRITY, NOR ever COMPROMISE our LIBERTY.
WE HAVE A DREAM THAT ONE DAY MEN’S EYES WILL BE OPENED AND THEY WILL COME TO REALISE THE WORLD IS CIVILISED, where all are equal under the stars, A WORLD WHERE VIOLENCE IS NOT STRENGTH AND COMPASSION IS NOT WEAKNESS.
IT IS OUR SACRED HERITAGE, our RIGHT AND our DUTY, TO PURSUE the CHALLENGE of enterprise THROUGH FREEDOM, TO SOAR HIGHER AND HIGHER, PROUD AND UNASHAMED, WITH ALL THE MAJESTY OF AN EAGLE IN FULL FLIGHT
to USE EVERY GIFT IN OUR POSSESSION, THAT WE MAY REACH BEYOND THE STARS AND one day, PERHAPS EVEN BEYOND THE DREAM, so that ;
We Might Go, Where We Want to Go Do, What We Want to Do and Be, What We Want to Be
we give thanks for knowledge - for this is the beginning of all wisdom
we ask that our spirits be uplifted and our minds enriched through the consuming pursuit of excellence, in order that we may achieve our philanthropic and humanitarian goals for the good of all mankind, for only then may we truly say ---- together, ..... surely we have walked the highest plateau of humanity.
